The workgroup aims to be a resource for local corner stores by connecting stores with one another, providing the resources and support necessary to make healthy choices the easy choice for community members. Corner stores are an integral part of the community and can serve as anchors where people can access nutritious and affordable foods.
A group of residents, community advocates, and direct service providers focused on food access, with the goal of coordinating resources and strategies to make enrollment in SNAP, WIC, and other federal nutrition programs more accessible for food insecure individuals in our community.
Gleaning & Food Rescue
The workgroup aims to increase access to nutritious food through gleaning (harvesting unused fruit trees for hunger relief) and food rescue, while simultaneously reducing food waste.
